Herbal Remedy for Pain

Herbal Remedy for Pain
Another type of herb that should always be in your medicine cabinet is those that help relieve pain. The best herb for this of course is White Willow. White Willow will actually relieve pain, reduce fevers, and reduce inflammation such as that found with certain types of arthritis.

White Willow is the original source of modern day aspirin and many of the common anti-inflammatory medicines you can buy over the counter or get in stronger doses via prescription. These include standard NSAIDs such as Motrin, Ibuprofen, and Aleve.

White Willow is an all natural herb which reduces pain by reducing inflammation. The good news though, is that it does not have the same side effects and risks that come with synthetic versions of this type of pain reliever. In fact, standard aspirin based medicines cannot be given to children, because it can cause a disease known as Reye's syndrome. White willow however, does not carry this same risk.

The main natural ingredient in White Willow is known as Salicin. This substance is converted by the body naturally into Salicylic Acid, which is mild to the stomach. So the upset stomach and bleeding ulcer issues that are commonly found with standard aspirin usage are not a problem with this herb either.

As with any other herbs, it's important to make sure you buy high quality White Willow supplements. If you simply buy a product which says it contains white willow, it is not likely to have enough of the actual herb in it to be overly helpful. Try to buy pure, 100% white willow in gel caps for the best results.

Also realize that if a person has taken large doses of synthetic pain killers in the past, their body may not respond the same when taking white willow. You need to compare the dosage amounts first of all: If you normally take two extra strength Tylenol tablets for pain relief for instance, then you may need three or four white willow supplements because they usually contain lower doses per pill than the Tylenol does.

Valerian Root is another useful herb to keep on hand for treating pain. This herb is actually a powerful and effective antispasmodic which helps calm and quiet the body. It relieves pain, helps promote sleep at night with no narcotic effect, and helps calm heart palpitations as well.

Valerian Root has been used for a wide variety of pain related issues such as menstrual cramps, childbirth afterpains, muscle cramps and spasms, headaches, and arthritis pain.

Herbs for High Blood Pressure

Herbs for High Blood Pressure
According to the American Heart Association, an estimated one out of every three Americans has high blood pressure, and at least a third of them don't even know it. Since high blood pressure can lead to stroke, heart attack, and kidney failure, this disease is often referred to as "The Silent Killer".

Blood pressure is the force at which blood moves through your arteries as the heart beats. High blood pressure is also referred to as hypertension, and it's usually measured with two numbers: systolic which occurs when the heart beats, and diastolic which is between heart beats. Normal blood pressure levels are considered to be less than 120/80, and pre hypertension or borderline high blood pressure is between 120/80 and 139/89. Above those levels is high blood pressure, and that is also divided into stage one and two. Stage two high blood pressure is the most dangerous, and it's usually measured at 160/100 or higher.

Many people can lead calm, non-stressful lives yet still have high blood pressure, so it's important to check it at least once every year or two depending on your personal risks for developing the disease.

There are many herbs which can help regulate blood pressure too though, and these herbs have the added benefit of being extremely nutritional. Many of the herbs used to regulate blood pressure will also help heal and tone the arteries and veins as well, so your entire circulatory system can have improved health over time.

Cayenne is one of the best herbs to use for regulating blood pressure. Since it regulates, it's useful for anyone with high or low blood pressure problems. Cayenne also helps tone the entire circulatory system too though. It feeds the cell structures of veins, arteries, and capillaries so they'll begin to be more elastic again.

Garlic another excellent herb to use for balancing and regulating your blood pressure levels too. Garlic is an herb used for a wide variety of things actually, because it's a powerful natural antibiotic, it kills parasites in the body, and it can kill fungus infections too.

All of these factors can help your body fight common illnesses and infections while also helping to keep your blood pressure at more normal, healthy, and safe levels. These qualities are more important for people with high blood pressure though, because they often tend to have other problems such as obesity and diabetes.

Hawthorn is an herb which will specifically relax the blood vessels and lower the blood pressure in your body. This herb is quite useful for people who are under a lot of stress, and it's great for strengthening and regulating the heart too.

Herbs for Arthritis

Herbs for Arthritis
Approximately 2.1 million Americans have a chronic disease known as Rheumatoid arthritis. This disease affects primarily women though, with about 70% of sufferers being female. Men and children can get the disease too, even though it's more rare, but when men get it they tend to have more severe symptoms from it than women.

Rheumatoid arthritis is simply an inflammation of the tissue which lines your joints. Since this inflammation is chronic though, time will cause the tissue to cause joint damage, limit movement abilities of the affected joints, and cause increasing amounts of pain.

There are currently no known modern medical cures for Rheumatoid arthritis, so doctors often treat the symptoms instead. Common treatments include the use of strong prescription pain relievers known as NSAIDS. Over the counter versions include products known as Aleve, Ibuprofin, and Motrin. NSAIDS work to relieve pain by reducing the inflammation which is causing the pain. Unfortunately, prescription NSAIDS have some dangerous side effects associated with them, including kidney and liver damage. Over the counter versions have the same risks, but since doses are lower it can take much more time and misuse of the products to cause these types of problems.

Herbal remedies also include using anti inflammatory solutions though. In fact, a completely natural herb known as White Willow was the basis for most of the modern day painkillers we use today.

White willow can be used safely both internally and externally to help reduce inflammation and relieve pain caused by inflammation. And it doesn't have the same side effects as prescription synthetics do.

To use white willow externally, open a powdered herbal gelcap and shake out the powder. Mix some pure aloe vera juice or mineral water with the powder to make a thin paste, then simply rub that over the painful joint areas.

When using white willow for arthritis pain or any other health purposes of course, be sure you're using 100% pure herbal supplements in powdered form. If you buy the hard tablets and products which say they "contain" an herb, you're not likely getting the full strength of the herb and it may not help as much as it could.

Burdock is another excellent herb to use for arthritis, because it helps reduce the swelling of joints, plus it helps break down calcification deposits that build up over time. Burdock should be taken orally for the best effects, but it too can be applied externally to help reduce swelling.

Chaparral is an herb which has been used specifically for arthritis for hundreds of years. It helps relieve pain, it purifies the blood, and it helps tone the body by rebuilding new tissue.

Link to the same post in the new blog: Herbal Remedy for Diabetes

Herbal Remedy for Diabetes

by Dr Keith Scott

Herbal Remedy for DiabetesDiabetes (including its precursor, Metabolic Syndrome) is one of the top five most significant diseases in the developed world and is rapidly becoming a burden in the developing world too. However contemporary research has found that several spices including cinnamon, garlic, fenugreek and caper have the potential to be effective natural treatments for diabetes.

In order to understand the management of diabetes, it is helpful to consider one of the most important underlying defects in this disease; that of insulin resistance. Before a cell will allow glucose through its protective membrane, its insulin receptor must be "turned on" by insulin or a chemical mimic. Insulin resistance occurs when the receptor develops a weakened response to insulin resulting in the cell's failure to absorb sufficient quantities of glucose from the blood. This process culminates in energy deprivation in the cells and raised blood glucose levels.

The primary cause of a poor insulin receptor response is the chronic over-production of insulin. Not only does too much insulin lead to receptor failure, but wide fluctuations in insulin levels are also known to be an important cause of this condition. These oscillating levels are, in turn, closely associated with a diet high in refined carbohydrate foods.

Extreme changes of insulin levels and associated insulin resistance are abnormalities common to both diabetes and metabolic syndrome and are typically the result of a diet dominated by high glycemic index foods. The rapid absorption of high GI foods results in abnormally high blood glucose levels. In order to stimulate the cells to absorb this sudden glucose load, the pancreas responds by releasing larger than normal quantities of insulin.

The excessive amount of insulin produced to achieve this effect results in a sudden fall in blood glucose, and within a couple of hours this level becomes very low. The subsequent intake of more high GI foods causes the blood glucose to rise dramatically once more, perpetuating the cycle of wildly fluctuating glucose and insulin levels. If this steady bombardment of the receptors by large amounts of insulin continues over a long period, it eventually leads to their insensitivity and malfunction and, finally, insulin resistance.

One of the best natural treatments for diabetes is a good diet and it is the most effective ways to prevent insulin resistance. The consumption of predominantly low GI foods means that insulin is released slowly. As a result, glucose is absorbed by cells in a controlled manner and blood glucose levels do not rise and fall so rapidly. This prevents the harmful glucose - and thus insulin - peaks and troughs that are associated with the repeated ingestion of large quantities of high GI foods.

Reducing the proportion of high GI foods in the diet has another, indirect benefit in terms of preventing insulin resistance. Such foods are typically fattening and reducing their intake can lead to weight loss. Obesity, and particularly "central obesity", is another other important cause of insulin resistance and tackling it is an effective way to reduce the risk of diabetes and other chronic diseases.

Other invaluable dietary tools for preventing and managing insulin resistance and diabetes are the spices. These foods counter the disease processes in several ways and can be tremendously helpful, irrespective of whether individuals are making dietary or other lifestyle changes.

Cinnamon, for example, is a potent inducer of insulin sensitivity and the addition of as little as one gram a day to the diet can reduce the blood glucose levels of diabetics by a staggering 30 percent. It does this by enhancing the enzymes that increase insulin receptor sensitivity and inhibiting those enzymes with the opposite action.

Cinnamon has the added benefit of lowering the abnormal lipid levels commonly found in diabetics and reducing oxidative stress caused by lipid oxidation in these patients. Cinnamon is now available as a powder or an extract as a treatment for diabetes.

Fenugreek is also highly effective at modulating glucose metabolism and can lower the blood glucose levels of diabetics by up to 45 percent. This spice both increases insulin receptor sensitivity and normalizes the imbalanced blood lipid levels of diabetics. The fiber contained in fenugreek also lowers the GI of a meal, thus modulating the post-prandial blood glucose levels by slowing the absorption of high GI foods.

Ginger and caper increase sensitivity to insulin, and caper mimics the effects of insulin. Garlic and coriander are also insulin mimics, while coriander enhances insulin secretion.

These and most other spices can, with their rich array of antioxidants, help to prevent the complications of diabetes by reducing the oxidation of fats.

Several spices, including chilies, can also help combat associated conditions such as obesity by increasing the metabolic rate and therefore helping to "burn off" excess calories.

Spices possess an amazing potency and range of weapons in the fight against diabetes. By helping to prevent, delay and even treat one of worst and most widespread chronic diseases afflicting the modern world, they offer useful, natural treatments for diabetes.

Herbal Remedies for Nail Fungus

There are several ways to treat nail fungus growth and problems with herbal remedies, but the same rules apply as always: Not everything will work the same for everyone.

When you have nail fungus, there is often quite a bit of build up of debris under and around the nails. Clean out and remove as much of that debris as you can, otherwise it may act as a barrier to the medicine and remedies you're trying to use. Also be sure to remove as much dead skin from around the nails as you can, and try using a nail file to scratch the top of your nail a bit too. These actions will all serve to make it easier for your chosen treatment medications to penetrate under the nail and attack the fungus which lives there.

To help increase the likelihood of an herbal or home remedy working on your nail fungus problems though, there are several things you can do. Cleaning and grooming are the primary steps needed to prepare your nails so they may respond better to the fungus treatments you choose.

Be sure to do this cleaning and preparation daily before applying the herbal remedy you've chosen. Now, let's look at several herbal remedies which have worked quite well for many people over the years:

Lemongrass Oil or Lemon Juice; Lemon is a natural antiseptic, and it can help start killing the fungus bacteria almost immediately. In fact, using lemongrass oil usually causes your nail area to turn black just minutes after using it, and this is an indication the fungus is starting to be killed.

Apple Cider Vinegar is possibly the oldest known herbal treatment for nail fungus problems. Many people swear by the success of this method, and it works because vinegar is also a natural antiseptic. The apple cider type of vinegar though, also has exfoliating properties. It helps soften your skin and remove the dead skin cells, which allows the fungus to be reached and killed easier.

Garlic is a well known, powerful antibiotic and anti fungal herb that works amazingly well for a wide variety of things, and nail fungus is no exception. Garlic can be used in oil form directly on the infected nails, or you can rub raw garlic on and around the nails too. Take the garlic internally at the same time, and you'll be fighting the fungal growth from two directions at once.

Tea Tree Oil is also a natural antiseptic, and it reportedly works wonderfully for killing nail fungus growth as well.

Herbal Ingredient to Overcome Ovary Cyst
Ovariy is one of the women reproductive organs that produce ovum (egg cells). Ovary is also a place where ovum cells maturation happened. Ovary secreted some important hormones such as estrogen and progesterone that has a role in the menstruation cycle. Women have a pair of ovariy glands form walnut-shaped seeds like that are located on the right and left of uterus (womb), under the uterine tube and tied in the back by the ligamentum latum uteri. These pair of ovary pair produce 300,000 ovum cells. Ovum cells, which is surrounded by epiteloid granulosa cells layers called follicle. From the results of research known that there are two important hormones to function fully of ovary namely FSH (Follicle-Stimulating hormone) and LH (Luteinizing hormone).

A benign tumor can come in contact with the ovary, in the form of a brown bag containing a liquid called the ovary cyst. Ovary cyst is usually not cancerous. If the cyst is still small, usually does not cause any symptoms. However, further research is needed to ensure that it is not cancer. A large cyst or cyst, which bears many women can cause stomach bulge. In addition, it also can cause discomfort in the pelvis, lumbago and pain during sexual intercourse.

Follicle Cyst

Follicle cyst arising from the follicle that did not work during the menstruation cycle. Follicle form of a small cyst that usually does not cause any symptoms, unless broken or being twisted, can cause symptoms of cramp and intense pain in the lower abdomen, such as appendicitis attack.

Lutein Cyst
Some lutein cyst often occurs during pregnancy. There are several types of cyst lutein, including:

This cyst can expand, resulting from improved blood excessive bleeding when the phase of the menstruation cycle and not the result of the tumor. This cyst emerged at the beginning of pregnancy and its diameter can reach 5-6 cm, which cause a sense of malaise in the pelvic region. When broken, bleeding occurs on one side of the stomach cavity.
